Today I saw/met a black bear. I was crossing a bridge in the ravine thinger by my house to get to the bus, and at first i thought it was a dog because there is a stray that wanders our block. But then I was saw it was bigger. Much BIGGER. So I start backing up, I'm only 10 metres (33 feet for you Amerikanese) away from it at this point. and I'm telling the mom and kid behind me to go back too. So they run home and calls the cops and I walk around to the other street and get the cop who lives there. Cop radios in and then grabs his rifle from his car, but the bear had moved on from the ravine by then like he went down to the water or back the way he came or somewhere because they never found him. A park ranger (without a pic-a-nic basket!!) and a by-law officer showed up too, I stuck around for an hour but never heard any shots, and I dunno what happened after that, cuz I grabbed a bus since I was late getting to Surrey.
